Luck of the Irish
With St. Patty's Day tomorrow we thought we'd give a traditional Irish dish a try. We usually stick to the favorite Corn Beef and cabbage, but have been a bit mesmerized by Shepard's Pie.
Shepard's pie is a stew utilized to preserve veggies and meat during older months. It is a hearty combination of veggies, meat and .....mash potatoes. Who won't love it!!! The kids adored it especially with the sprinkle of Parmesan cheese crusting on top.
Ingredients
1 lb Ground beef or lamb
1 clove of Garlic minced
2 Tb Flour
1/4 cup of water
2 Tb Steak Sauce
1/3 cup Red Wine (to de-glaze)
2 Tsp Souldobo
1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese
4 cups Mashed Potatoes (Potatoes, Milk, butter)
1 bag frozen mixed veggies
Let's Get to It:
Ground the meat in a pan, add garlic, and seasoning. Deglaze with red wine and add water, flour and steak sauce. Add veggies and cook until everything is happy together. Pour into a pan and top with Mashed Potatoes and sprinkle cheese on top. Cook in oven for 20 minus at 350 degrees. Then it's time to eat. We paired ours with Irish Soda bread- the perfect accompaniment! Buen Provecho.
